How To Run Madden 11 Tournaments For Friends
Madden NFL is a very popular outfit in the gaming arena. Every time a new version is announced, its thousands of fans wait with bated breath for its release. Its popularity is unmatched, be it in the Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo or PC mediums. Madden 11 tournaments are held every year amid enthusiastic participation from fans all over. To host one of them, these are the things you have to consider.
Few events offer prizes and rewards to the winner but others are just played for the glory. To host an event for friends, you should probably decide if there is going to be a reward and hence, a participating fee. The events hosted on television offer lump sums of cash as rewards. Only the best players take part in these. For an event of this kind to be credible, you must ensure that the gaming is fair. The selection of the final winner must also be fairly done. Although there are not a whole bunch of rules to be followed, there are some general fundamentals to be followed. All the players must abide by these. The controller and the console are usually provided by the organisers. Under no circumstances are the players supposed to use their own. This is obviously to eliminate chances of tampering. Tampering is dealt with severely in these events, most likely with the player getting booted. All the players are given similar controllers and consoles to ensure fair play. The presence of a referee is a must to make certain that there is no foul play. They have a bunch of duties. These include supervision of the game, the demeanor of players and also to see if every player complies with the dress code.
They can rule on what is the appropriate time to pause game play. Referees also should be well versed in technical details so that they can recognise any cheating attempt by the players. Especially, if the players try to take advantage of any bugs in the game. Like any other game, there are chances of technical glitches being present and the referees have to be familiar with these to ensure no player utilizes them to his advantage.
No vulgarity is tolerated and any attempts to abuse the referee either physically or verbally are grounds to disqualify the player. During play, player is forbidden from interacting with the audience. No usage of headsets is allowed. Damaging equipment is also considered grounds for punishment. Before game play begins, ensure all your players are aware of the rules.
No game 'fixing' is tolerated and any attempts to do so will get the player booted. Madden 11 tournaments rules vary according to the type of event. A live game will have slightly different rules from an online one. You may also have to stipulate the duration of game play, the speed of game and the difficulty settings.

The Curse of the Madden Cover Athlete
Madden is one of the most look-forward-to releases on xbox and PS3 every year, and this year is no exception. The Madden football games took the nascent video game industry by storm, and haven't slowed down yet. It's right there for the annual NFL Draft, creating shots of players on their new teams almost instantly. The game has become so popular that tournaments where professionals play head-to-head for loads of money have made it onto television for our viewing pleasure. You may have also heard the term "Madden Holiday"...and it just goes to show how incredibly popular it has become.
Amidts the excitement of the game's release, it can be slightly bittersweet for some players, namely those who get rated badly and, above all, the one who graces the game's cover. Since Madden gave up the game's cover appearance starting with the 1999 installment for a different annual cover athlete, that player has suffered from poor play or injury, leading to the belief that there is a Madden NFL curse.
In the first week of the 2009 season, the Madden curse had already reared it's ugly head. For the first time in the series' history, two players graced the cover of Madden NFL 10. Defending Super Bowl Champion safety of the Pittsburgh Steelers Troy Polamalu goes head-to-head with one of the men he covered in the big game last February, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Troy Polomalu was injured in the Steelers' very first regular season game against the Titans. He didn't return.
One would imagine teams and players would have learned their lesson by now. When EA Sports comes calling, it's probably in everybody's best interest to decline the offer regardless of how prestigious and financially rewarding the opportunity might be. Histroy has taught us that the negative effect of being on the Madden cover, for whatever scientific or non-scientific reason, is a real thing.
Notable instances of the Madden NFL curse:
2002: Second-year quarterback Daunte Culpepper graced the cover for 2002, but was only able to follow-up an NFC Championship appearance the previous year by missing the final five games of the 2001 season with a knee injury as the Vikings missed the playoffs with a 5-11 record.
2003: After being featired as the Madden 03 cover athlete, Rams' running back Marshall Faulk played the whole 2002 season with a naggin ankle problem, and didn't reach his full potential. He failed to rush for 1,000 yards for the first time in 6 years, and the Rams finished the season 7-9. missing the playoffs.
2004: Atlanta Falcons franchise QB (and a Madden player's favorite QB at the time) missed the entire 2003 season after gracing the cover of Madden 04. His team finished 5-11 (missing the playoffs of course) without him.
2006: After taking a break in 2004, the curse was back at it for the 2005 season. Donovan Mcnabb was the cover athlete of Madden 06 and wouldn't you know, he suffered a sports hernai in week one, causing him to eventually get sidelined for the second half of the year.
That evidence is hard to refute. So, how will Drew Brees fare against the msyterious and enignmatic "Madden Curse?"
